GT’s Mass Choir is the heart of our church. Choir is about learning to honor God. Our culture teaches that giving God priority in our lives will make us miserable.

When people participate in in choir for the first time, they say something like ‘I had no idea how much fun it would be!’ When we lift our hearts and voices to Him, we cannot but help to experience His joy and love.

Choir also connects us with each other. Life isn’t meant to be lived alone. The Bible talks about God looking at Adam, alone in the Garden of Eden (a perfect world!) and saying — ‘Not good.’ Getting involved in the choir is a great way to meet people who are just like you: imperfect, but looking for a deeper life with God.

Something the choir does to an extent that almost nothing else can do is energizing the congregation. When the choir loft is full of people who are excited about God, it’s contagious. It’s almost like we need a visual reminder of how good God is, and of how many wonderful things He’s done in us and for us. When the choir gets excited, the congregation gets excited, and then the choir gets excited — and it helps us all wake up to the fullness of life that God has invited us into.

Choir is also one of the primary ways our church grows. A lot of people (I used to be one of them!) simply have no desire to set foot in a church to hear a preacher. But if you tell your friends that you’re going to be singing and you want them to come hear — they’ll come! And while they’re here, they will hear about a God who loves them and desires friendship with them.

And our choir, like our church, is open to EVERYONE. If there’s choir practice on your first day at GT – you’re invited to come. God accepts us just as we are, and immediately invites us to start discovering the freedom and hope He created us for. And what better way to start that discovery than to join the choir?
